The West Alexander Fair is looking to promote a fun, exciting opportunity for our young musical artists to share their talents with our community.  For some, this may their first time on stage and possibly a future in the entertainment careers.  Local and County fairs take pride in providing this platform to our future entertainers.

Being this will be our first year promoting this exciting new competition, we will expect some challenges. We ask the both the contestants and their supporters help us make this a reoccurring event.

Music acts are open to:

• Singers

• Musicians

• Singer / Musician

• Bands / Instrumental Bands

Age Groups (age as of August 1, 2024):

• Junior (13 and under, to perform Wednesday, starting at 6:30PM)

• Senior (14 ~ 21,) as of August 1st of the year entering the contest (To perform Wednesday, starting at 7:30 PM or shortly after the Junior group)

• For bands, any member over 21 cannot participate.  Any member in a Jr band that is over 13, the entire band must complete in the Senior category

Trophy for first place winner.  Prize money as follows ($200, $150, $100 for senior and $100, $75, $50 for Jr.)

Musical acts that are already booked with the West Alexander Fair are not permitted to enter

Musicians must bring their own equipment (guitars, amps, keyboards, etc.). Professional sound will be provided.

Backing tracks can be used and should be provided on a USB drive, or provide a device with audio or Bluetooth output.

Be prepared to perform up to 3 songs.  Stage time will be determined on number of entries. Less time for Juniors and more stage time for the Senior group.

Bands will be given limited time to set up.  Exceptions can be made for larger bands with possible pre-stage.

Only musicians listed on the entry will be permitted.

Limited slots may be available due to popularity. Please register early!!!

West Alexander Fair will provide:

• Chair /Stool

• iPad / Laptop / Music stand

• (Working on acquiring a Piano or Keyboard)

• Professional audio / sound system

  • 8 Channel mixer with effects

  • Ability to direct link via audio jack, bluetooth or USB

  • Stage monitors

  • Wired and Wireless microphones

Judging Criteria

A panel of professional judges will score musicians on a point system.  Judging criteria includes technical proficiency, appearance, personality, originality, stage presence, and audience reaction.

The removal of clothing and the use of obscene language and gesture are prohibited and will result in the band being disqualified and the act ending immediately.
